Q :I had applied for a personal loan, but the application was rejected because my credit score was apparently low. I had taken four personal loans and have cleared two of them. I am paying the EMIs for the other two. But, I could not pay seven dues of one of the loans, although later I cleared three of the pending EMIs. I will be paying the remaining four EMIs in two months. Why is my credit score low? I got the CIR from Cibil, which does not have any information on my credit score but only records of my loans.

Re: You had defaulted in payment of banks’ dues. This will affect your credit score. Credit information companies take into account the type of loan availed of by a person. For example, if you have more clean loans like personal loan or credit card, debt, etc, the score will be low. Instead, if you have a combination of secured loan like housing loan and a small clean loan, then the score will be better. As regards the CIR, unless you ask for credit score and pay the requisite fees, the Cibil will not give you the score. You need to pay . 450 for both the CIR and the credit score.
